Resistance carries out second attack on Naypyitaw airbase in one week

A week after an earlier strike by a drone unit, another group of fighters under the National Unity Government’s command claims to have fired on the same airbase in the national capital, causing dozens of casualties

A resistance group claimed responsibility for an attack on the junta-controlled Aye Lar airbase in Naypyitaw using “electric discharge-activated” shells early Thursday morning, the second attack on the base this month.

The Mountain Knights Civilian Defence Force (MKCDF)—a unit of the People’s Defence Forces commanded by the ministry of defence of Myanmar’s shadow National Unity Government (NUG)—claimed responsibility for the strike.

The resistance group claims to have fired on the airbase, a section of Naypyitaw’s international airport where the junta stores military aircraft, using seven discharge-activated 107mm shells, at around 4am, purportedly causing major casualties.
