The junta arrested at least seven people on Sunday for allegedly participating in urban guerrilla warfare against military officers in Yangon. The military claims the detained, who included two women, were members of an urban guerilla group called “Together Urban Force,” which the regime says attempted to assassinate a military officer in Yangon’s Mayangone Township on December 22.
Major Zeyar Min, an officer with the junta's intelligence service, was shot by two men while returning home from his brothers’ wedding in Yangon. Although he survived the assassination attempt, he sustained minor injuries along with his younger sister, according to junta-controlled media.
The Together Urban Force and Yangon Phoenix guerrilla groups both claimed responsibility for the attack on the same day.
A week later, the regime arrested three young men on December 29, accusing them of acting as scouts in the same assassination. Officers also detained. . .
