About the Role
Myanmar Now is seeking experienced investigative reporters to produce original, high-impact journalism on human rights abuses, conflict, and military activity in Myanmar.
This role is for journalists who can work independently under difficult conditions while also collaborating closely with cross-border teams. The position may require travel to reporting locations where feasible and safe.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth investigations into human rights violations and conflict-related abuses
- Build and maintain reliable sources, including within affected communities
- Verify and document incidents using field reporting, interviews, and open-source material
- Work collaboratively with editors, researchers, and other reporters on complex investigations
- Produce compelling, accurate stories for an international audience
Requirements
- Proven experience in investigative or conflict reporting
- Strong understanding of Myanmar’s political and military landscape
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a coordinated reporting team
- Willingness and ability to travel for reporting assignments when required
- Excellent Burmese and English writing skills
- High standards of accuracy, ethics, and source protection
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Preferred
Familiarity with digital verification tools
Experience documenting war crimes or human rights abuses
Background in exile media or high-risk reporting environments
Investigative Researcher (OSINT, Satellite & Trade Analysis)

About the Role
Myanmar Now is looking for a highly skilled investigative researcher with expertise in open-source intelligence (OSINT), satellite imagery analysis, and trade data tracking.
You will play a key role in uncovering how the Myanmar military operates—tracking arms procurement networks, supply chains, and economic flows—as part of a collaborative investigative team. The role may involve travel for training, coordination, or field-linked research where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse satellite imagery to identify military activity, airstrikes, and infrastructure
- Track and investigate arms procurement networks and supply routes
- Use trade and shipping data to map imports, fuel flows, and logistics chains
- Work closely with reporters and editors to strengthen major investigations
- Contribute to team-based projects, including cross-border collaborations
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in OSINT, geolocation, or satellite imagery analysis
- Ability to work with trade databases, shipping records, or financial flows
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment
- Willingness to travel when required for project needs
- Excellent Burmese and English writing skills (ability to clearly present complex findings)
- Excellent attention to detail and verification standards
Preferred
- Experience using tools such as Sentinel Hub, Google Earth Pro, or maritime tracking platforms
- Background in conflict analysis, security studies, or investigative journalism
- Experience tracking sanctions evasion or illicit trade networks
