
A woman and a boy were killed in an airstrike on a school in Chin State’s Mindat Township on Thursday, days after a similar attack left dozens dead in Sagaing Region earlier this week.
A displaced man living in Mindat Township told Myanmar Now that the number of casualties was relatively low because the school, located in a village about 20 miles north of the township’s administrative centre, was not operating at the time of the assault.
“Luckily, the school has been closed since Chin resistance forces launched their offensive to seize the town,” the man said, referring to the intensification of fighting that led to the capture of the town of Mindat by anti-regime groups late last year.
