
The 100-bed Worker’s Hospital in Mandalay was set aside in November to treat Covid-19 patients amid a surge in cases nationwide.
Nine volunteers from three local charities are assisting doctors, nurses and other hospital staff there by cleaning, serving food and delivering medicine to patients.
As of December 27 Mandalay has reported over 12,700 Covid-19 cases including more than 240 deaths. More than 2,200 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals and over 10,300 have been discharged from hospital after recovering.
Nationwide, there have been over 121,800 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and more than 2,600 deaths
