Resistance attacks force Myanmar junta troops to abandon base near Khin-U

Around 200 regime forces withdrew from the base after it was devastated by airstrikes triggered by two attacks last month

Regime forces stationed near the Sagaing Region town of Khin-U were compelled to abandon their base on Wednesday, according to resistance sources.The base, located in the village of Ma Daung Hla, about seven miles north of Khin-U, was attacked twice last month, leading to devastating air raids on the village.“It became uninhabitable. Fire destroyed most of the houses, leaving only a hilltop pagoda, the monastery, and the rice mill intact,” a member of a local resistance group reported, describing the aftermath of the airstrikes.Despite being heavily fortified with bunkers and trenches, the destruction of the village left the base exposed. “With the houses gone, there was nothing left to provide cover.
