Anti-junta groups capture multi-rocket launcher from army base

Anti-junta forces waging a renewed military offensive in Myanmar’s northern Shan State have seized a large cache of weapons and ammunition, including a multi-rocket launcher system, during a raid on an army base in Nawnghkio Township.

The Ta’ang National Liberation Army, an ethnic armed group allied with the People’s Defence Forces (PDF)—the armed wing of the country’s shadow National Unity Government—captured the junta’s Missile Battalion 606 base, located about two miles from Nawnghkio, at around 3am on Wednesday.

In a statement released today, PDF forces based in areas of Mandalay Region bordering Shan State announced that they had overrun three regime bases in Nawnghkio Township, seizing a multi-rocket launcher and anti-aircraft machine guns. A number of junta soldiers were also captured, the statement said. . .
