Airstrikes carried out by Myanmar’s military killed three women and two children and injured more than a dozen others in Magway Region’s Myaing Township on Monday, according to local sources.
The attack, targeting the village of Kan Myint Kone, took place at around 9:30am and was followed by a barrage of heavy artillery, the sources said.
Four of the deceased—the three women and a five-year-old boy—were killed instantly, while a 13-year-old girl died later of her injuries, a villager involved in the rescue effort told Myanmar Now.
“Their bodies were almost entirely ripped apart by powerful bombs. Only the body of a woman in her 60s was recognisable,” he said, describing the condition of the first four victims.
The girl who was later reported dead was among at least 14 people, including five children, who sustained serious injuries. Three were said. . .
